Briarpatch Angus Shepherd’s Pie
There’s something timeless about a shepherd’s pie — layers of hearty beef, tender vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes all baked together into cozy perfection. This Briarpatch version keeps things classic while using our farm-raised Angus ground beef for richer flavor and an authentic home-cooked touch. It’s the kind of meal that fills your kitchen with warmth and brings everyone to the table with a smile.
Ingredients:
1 pound Briarpatch Farms Angus ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
1 small onion, finely diced
2 carrots, peeled and chopped
1 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup beef broth
2 cups prepared mashed potatoes
Salt and pepper, to taste
Optional: shredded cheddar cheese for topping
Directions:
Cook the beef: Warm oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add Briarpatch Farms Angus ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat.
Add the vegetables: Stir in onion, carrots, peas, and garlic. Cook 4–5 minutes until softened.
Build the flavor: Mix in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce, then pour in beef broth. Simmer for 10 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
Layer and bake: Spread the beef mixture evenly into a casserole dish. Spoon mashed potatoes over top and smooth them out.
Finish it off: Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes or until golden on top. Sprinkle cheddar before serving if desired.
Serving Tip:
Pair with roasted green beans or buttered rolls for a complete, comforting dinner.
