OUR STORY
Nestled in the heart of Georgia’s Lake Country in Putnam County, Briarpatch Farm is a Centennial Farm with over 120 years of farming history rooted in faith, family, and stewardship of the land. Located in Eatonton, and near Greensboro, Milledgeville, our farm has been sustained by generations who believed deeply in hard work, caring for the land, and raising animals responsibly.
Today, Mike Rainey, owner and farmer of Briarpatch Farm, continues the legacy passed down through generations before him. Raised with a deep respect for agriculture and the outdoors, Mike has dedicated his life to preserving the land while producing high quality beef for families across the region. Working alongside him is his daughter Jill Boyer, the farm manager and the next generation of leadership at Briarpatch Farm. Together, they are committed to carrying forward the values that have shaped the farm for more than a century.
Over the years, Briarpatch Farm has evolved from previous generations cultivating cotton, dairy, and timber, to today the farm focusing on raising Black Angus cattle and responsibly produced beef. Our cattle are grass fed and grain finished, allowing us to provide families with high quality beef they can trust. We offer boxed beef bundles and bulk beef, giving local families a direct connection to where their food is raised.
For us, farming is not simply about producing beef as a Georgia Centennial Farm, it’s about generational stewardship of the land, caring for the animals entrusted to us, and ensuring that the farm remains healthy and productive for future generations. Every decision we make is guided by a commitment to sustainability, land preservation, and responsible farming practices.
Briarpatch Farm is also a place where community comes together. Through gatherings and events held at The Barn, our special event venue here on the farm, we welcome neighbors, local businesses, and organizations to experience life on the farm and share in the sense of community that rural living creates.
At its heart, Briarpatch Farm exists to serve families and our community. We believe in providing responsibly raised local beef, supporting agriculture in Georgia's Lake Country, and honoring the faith and gratitude that have sustained this land for generations.
For over a century, this land has provided both sustenance and purpose for our family. And with each new generation, we remain committed to continuing that legacy—raising cattle responsibly, caring for the land, and feeding families across Lake Oconee, Lake Sinclair, Georgia’s Lake Country, and beyond.
